Exponential = “Relating to a mathematical expression containing one or more exponents. Something is said to increase or decrease exponentially if its rate of change must be expressed using exponents. A graph of such a rate would appear not as a straight line, but as a curve that continually becomes steeper or shallower.”    (American Heritage Science Dictionary)

Presently on Earth, we are experiencing an increased rate of inner growth.  This growth occurs not only faster, but takes us both deeper and higher.  To move through this with poise, we need balance.  Applying these three concepts to our life assists us in achieving this balance.

The three concepts are:

  1. Build an anchored life.
  2. Create high willingness to work through challenges.
  3. Know who you REALLY are.

These concepts relate directly to:

  • Three Gunas
    • Sattvas, Rajas, Tamas
    • Mercury, Sulphur, Salt
  • Three Astrological Personality Types
    • Mutable, Cardinal, Fixed
  • Three Mother Letters of Hebrew Alphabet
    • Aleph, Shin, Mem
    • Air, Fire, Water

Let’s discuss these concepts using provocative questions…

1) How anchored am I in my life?

You may have heard that historically the traditional practice of Hebrew Kabbalah was restricted to people over the age of 40.   This was because the Rabbis knew that the long term effect of practicing Kabbalah creates an altered and expanded state of consciousness.  The Rabbis wanted to protect the student, and so they taught only those who were fully grounded in the physical world.  They believed the best candidate would be a person who was at least 40 years old, married, with children and business occupying their life.  The bottom line here is  …how stable and balanced is my life?

  • What anchors me to my life?
  • Does my income cover my expenses?
  • Am I healthy?
  • Is my home safe and serene?
  • Do I have people, pets and/or plants that depend on me?

2) How willing am I to face challenges as I move towards my spiritual fulfillment?

Consider the Beatles.  Malcolm Gladwell, the author of Blink and Tipping Point, most recently studied in his book, Outliers, what makes people successful.  Is it intelligence?  Is it ambition? Is it culture? One of his conclusions is that success requires talent, but he defines talent as “the desire to practice”.  This desire stems from seeing exciting opportunity in a challenge as opposed to seeing hard work; the thrill of what the opportunity can lead to is so strong that it overcomes the resistance to the work.  The Beatles demonstrated this type of talent.  Many Americans remember the Beatles as the “British Invasion”, exploding on the scene, somehow filled with an innate, magical ability to send waves of emotion around the world just through their music.  What most people don’t know is that just a few years before their appearance in America, the Beatles played a club in Hamburg, Germany doing a gig that required them to play 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. THIS was practice!  People who don’t like work would say “no way!” to this kind of opportunity.  The Beatles said “YES!” and the rest is history.

  • Do I have this type of talent?
  • How willing am I to face the challenges of practicing spirituality more than I do now?
  • What would have to change to raise that willingness?
  • What can I do at home on a consistent basis to move myself forward in this process?
  • Who do I trust to hold me accountable for it?
  • How can I fit this in and still maintain life balance?

3)  How ready am I to unlearn what I’ve learned about who I really am?

Eckhart Tolle says in his book, A New Earth, “First we learn who we are not, then we can learn who we truly are.”

  • How willing am I to be objective with myself and to truly live in the NOW?
  • On a scale of 1 to 10, how objective am I with myself?
  • How important is it to me to tell myself the truth?
  • Who am I?
  • How often do I “get in my own way”?
  • How often do I say “yes” when I wanted to say “no”?
  • How often do I say “no” when I wanted to say “yes”?
  • How often do I make choices from guilt or pressure as opposed to inspiration and freedom?
  • Have I ever truly experienced complete Silence?
